Residentials and the school caravan

Our school offers a range of residential opportunities to meet the different needs and experiences of our students, including Danbury, Stubbers Activity Centre, the Isle of Wight, Norfolk, and Portugal, as well as regular overnight stays at our Stubbers caravan throughout the year. We typically introduce students to residential experiences gradually, beginning with shorter stays closer to home and building up to longer trips further away, with the aim of many students participating in the Portugal residential during their final year. For every residential, we carefully consider student groupings, peer relationships, and staffing ratios to ensure students are well supported by staff who know them well. Residentials provide valuable opportunities for students to develop confidence, build friendships, improve their social and communication skills, learn how to stay away from home, and practise important independence skills such as personal care, organisation, decision-making, and taking part in daily living tasks. These experiences can be highly rewarding and help prepare students for greater independence in adulthood.
