Black History Month

Black History Month Celebration

Throughout Black History Month, students have been enthusiastically taking part in a range of classroom-based activities designed to celebrate and learn about Black history, culture, and achievements.

As part of the celebrations, students attended a whole-school assembly led by Tom, which highlighted the importance of Black History Month and encouraged students to reflect on the contributions of Black individuals throughout history and today.

We were also fortunate to welcome the Iroko Theatre Company, who delivered engaging 45-minute workshops for our students. During these sessions, students explored African culture through music, movement, and performance, learning to use drums and maracas, joining in with chants, and practising a variety of dance moves. The workshops provided a fun, interactive, and memorable experience that was enjoyed by students and staff alike.

Overall, Black History Month has provided valuable opportunities for learning, participation, and celebration across the school.
